The Next Chapter: A CalCPA Community Kickoff
Retirement — or the transition toward it — can open the door to an entirely new chapter, both professionally and personally.
CalCPA is exploring the development of a community for CPAs who are recently retired or beginning to think about the transition from full-time work. This informal virtual kickoff meeting is an opportunity to meet others at a similar stage, exchange ideas, and help shape what this community could become.
There is no predetermined agenda. Instead, we want to hear from participants about what would make the group interesting and worthwhile.
Future gatherings might include discussions about:Part-time, consulting, and advisory opportunitiesVolunteer and nonprofit opportunities where financial expertise can make a differenceSocial Security, Medicare, and other retirement-related topicsInvesting and financial issues particularly relevant during retirementStaying professionally engaged after leaving full-time employmentTravel, hobbies, and other interests beyond the professionInformal social activities, lunches, and opportunities simply to stay connected
Most importantly, this is intended to be a community — not simply a series of educational programs. The goal is to create opportunities for people to meet one another, share experiences and resources, remain connected to the profession, and have some fun along the way.
This first virtual gathering will help us determine the level of interest and identify the activities and topics participants would most like to pursue. We are also hoping to find a few people interested in helping shape the group as it develops.
If you are recently retired, considering retirement, or simply beginning to think about what the next chapter might look like, we hope you'll join the conversation.
