Join San Diego members for a scenic morning stroll overlooking the San Elijo Lagoon Ecological Preserve near Solana Beach. This trail is kept in very good condition. There is one unique portion that consists of a few ladders that take us through some amazing slot canyons up to a lookout point.
Important Information:
1.) Dogs are welcome to join us on this trail.
2.) Parking: Put Gemma Parks Interpretive trail into your GPS and then park on the street. This is at the end of N Rios Ave. Solana Beach, Ca 92075.
3.) Where to meet: We will be meeting at the beginning of the trail head.
4.) What to bring: bring as much water as you feel you need.
5.) For fun facts about water look up books by Masaru Emoto, appropriate clothing/footwear for the weather. The weather is usually sunny with the temperature starting out mildly crisp and refreshing in the morning and becomes quite warm as the sun gets higher. Sun protection: (hat, sunglasses, sunscreen, etc.) we love how beneficial the sun is for our health, but we still need to be mindful of its power to burn, please bring sun protection.
6.) Challenge level: This is an easy hike with only one optional uphill portion. The trail is well marked and maintained.
7.) The temperature should be warm/moderate early in the morning and then will continue to get hotter as the sun gets higher in the sky.
**Arrive early so the group can stretch and hike together. If you arrive late and no one is at the trailhead, catch up!
