January 2025: Relief for wildfire victims and public education and other governmental employees! In this month’s update, we will discuss two major legislative Acts – the Disaster Tax Relief Act which was signed by the President on 12/12/2024 and the Social Security Fairness Act which was signed by the President on 1/5/2025. The Disaster Act will help Californians impacted by the LA wildfires, as well as the Butte, North Bay, and Camp fires. The Social Security legislation repeals the Windfall Elimination Provision (WEP) adjustment and the Government Pension Offset (GPO), which have long reduced Social Security benefits for state and local government employees. Stay current in the New Year with the monthly update.”
